Claudine Tsongo, DFJ
Claudine Tsongo Mbalamya possesses twelve years of experience working in civil society organizations, project management and coordination. She is the coordinator (executive director) of Dynamique des femmes juristes (DFJ), and accordingly the coordinator of a network of associations of women lawyers, named RAFEJE (réseau des associations des femmes juristes de l’Est de la RDC). In 2015, she was also nominated as the coordinator of the new Great lakes network of women lawyer organisations called ROFEJ-GL (réseau des organisations des femmes juristes de la region des Grands Lacs).
As a lawyer for twelve years, she is engaged in promotion, protection and defense of human rights in general, and women’s and children’s rights especially and committed to fight for justice and equal rights for men and women, girls and boys.
She holds a master degree in gender and peace building from University for Peace (UPEACE) and focuses her efforts in tackling gender issues and promoting gender equality. She is also a junior lecturer at the faculty of law of Université Libre des Pays des Grands Lacs (ULPGL) based in Goma, in the North Kivu province since 2006 and member of the management’s council of ULPGL’s legal clinic and the council board of the Centre africain de recherche sur la paix et le développement (CAREPD/ ULPGL).
She has led also many advocacy campaigns aiming at implementing women’s rights as protected by legal texts and bettering national laws that are still discriminating women.
